Filming and Media Access

Brookfield Zoo Chicago is happy to accommodate media requests for interviews, filming access, parking, admissions, and/or story development when covering the Zoo. All media access must be coordinated in advance and managed on site by the Zoo’s Public Relations team.

General Filming & Media Guidelines

  • Cameras are permitted on Zoo grounds for personal use only; photos or videos must not be distributed or sold without advanced licensing permissions.

  • Mono- or tri-pods, professional grade cameras and/or lenses, boom mics, lighting, etc. are not permitted on Zoo grounds without advance permission from and on-site supervision by the Zoo’s Public Relations team.

  • Drones are strictly prohibited.

  • Media members must be escorted by a member of the Zoo’s public relations team at all times while on site.

  • When taking photos or videos, media members are not permitted to cross any barriers or place devices such as tripods or monopods over barriers.

  • Admission to Brookfield Zoo Chicago grants staff and authorized personnel permission to photograph or record guests for promotional or educational purposes.

  • For the health and well-being of the animals under our care, flash and lighting are not allowed in certain areas and habitats. Any lighting needs must be coordinated prior to arrival.

  • Influencers interested in opportunities to cover the Zoo for social media or blogs should complete the Influencer Request Form.

  • Brookfield Zoo Chicago reserves the right to cancel any shoot at any time.

Filming Location

Brookfield Zoo Chicago welcomes requests to film content, commercials, television shows, movies, etc. Production companies interested in learning more about filming schedules, permissions, location fees, licensing, site visits, crew accommodations, and other logistics should contact Julianne Olivo, director of public relations at Brookfield Zoo Chicago.

Photo & Video Licensing

All rights are managed for the Zoo’s photos and videos. Inquiries for commercial use should also be directed to Julianne Olivo.
