The King Conservation Leadership Academy (KCLA) offers learning opportunities for children, families, teenagers, and adults. KCLA is guided by the Zoo’s mission to inspire conservation leadership by connecting people to wildlife and nature.

Zoo Adventure Passport! (ZAP!) programs are learning opportunities for the whole family. Participants can garden, hear stories, talk to guest speakers, and more. These interactive experiences build relationships, teach communication skills, and encourage empathy.
These activities are led by the King Conservation Leadership Academy.
Ages: Middle School
Middle schoolers are tomorrow’s change-makers, and the King Explorers program gives them the chance to have hands-on experiences. Participants take part in STEAM-based projects, building toward a final presentation that showcases their learning and creativity.
Ages: High School
The King Conservation Science Scholars program is for curious high school students who have a desire to create positive change.
This program offers opportunities to get involved at Brookfield Zoo Chicago. They'll participate in workshops, immersive experiences, and public engagement opportunities.
The KCLA team serves central Cook County through community engagement and outreach. This includes ongoing neighborhood programs and one-time events that share information about Zoo programs.
